The liberty trees
WHo we are
We are just a small group—family and friends in our late twenties and early thirties—who see the urgency of this moment and want to push the needle as much as possible. Right now, our “organization” exists to spread this idea and mission. But we are prepared to grow and evolve to support the resistance however we can.
Like many of you, we’ve watched politics in horror over the last decade. It’s maddening how flat-footed the DNC, the left, and progressive movements have been—despite the right’s moves being so heavily telegraphed. But then we asked ourselves:
What have we actually done up until now to support the infrastructure of activist organizations and resistance?
Now we ask you the same.
Our Three Pillars
Vision
We recognize the urgent reality: our democracy is being illegally dismantled, replaced by an oligarchy.
We understand what must be done: while winning the midterms and the elections beyond is essential and requires careful planning, meaningful change cannot wait. Protests and marches are valuable tools for spreading awareness, but awareness alone is not enough. Real change comes from action—bold, strategic efforts that go beyond demonstration. History has shown us the power of civil disobedience, as demonstrated by American heroes like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We must leverage the tools of our past to be effective.
Those who stand against this regime must understand these truths and be prepared to act.
Unity
To build an effective movement, we must set aside what divides us and remain focused on our primary goal: saving democracy. Issues such as women’s rights, trans rights, healthcare, and foreign policy are important, but they cannot be meaningfully addressed without a functioning democratic system.
A pro-democracy movement requires standing alongside those with whom we may disagree, united in the defense of the very system that allows us to debate and resolve these issues. Only by preserving democracy can we ensure that all voices continue to be heard.
Coalitions need to be built between organizations, the DNC, and all those who stand for liberty. Unity within these movements and unity amongst these movements is how we win.
Action
Real change requires real action. While the internet is a valuable tool for organizing, it cannot replace face-to-face engagement. Get involved in your community—attend local organizations, go to DNC meetings, and demand both action and unity.
Talk to your friends and neighbors. Be the bridge that connects people to activism. Strengthen the ties between organizations so they can respond more effectively to this crisis.
Start protests. Organize marches. Demand leaders begin planning and executing decisive action. Most importantly, be ready to personally carry out strategic plans of civil disobedience when the time comes. The fight for democracy happens in the real world—show up and make it count.
What can i do right now?
The DNC and many activist organizations are in disarray. Find your local DNC caucus, attend their meetings, and make your voice heard. If no such groups exist in your area, create one. Put up flyers, post on social media, and bring people together under the banner of defending democracy. The movement grows when those willing to act step up and lead.
Many involved don’t fully grasp the urgency of this moment—we need people who share our vision to be present and shift the narrative. Use social media, but don’t let it replace real-world activism.
If someone recognizes the destruction of democracy, they are an ally—even if you disagree on other issues. Don’t let our differences divide us. Be the voice calling for unity. Be the connection that brings groups together under a common purpose.
Take back American iconography and history. The Right has twisted patriotism into a disgrace. We are the ones who can righteously wave the flag and invoke the ideals of the past. Even if you’re disillusioned with America’s history, remember: America’s strength lies in its constant striving toward its ideals.
Contact your representatives and let them know you want them to be a REAL opposition party. That means more than meekly reading objections on the house floor.
Most importantly, BE READY. The time is rapidly approaching where patriotic Americans will be called upon to act, don’t miss the moment. Show up and be the force of change.
